FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ABOUT THE SCHOOL
What kind of school is GLS?

Global Leadership School is a registered private high school in California that offers UC-approved college-preparatory courses online. Courses taken through GLS appear on an official high school transcript and are recognized as regular academic history in U.S. college admissions, including UC schools.

Are GLS and A1 College Prep the same program?

Both share the same instructors and curriculum. GLS is a formal school program with grading, attendance tracking, and transcript credit. Al offers the same course content on a flexible schedule without transcript credit, letting students focus purely on skill-building.

UC A-G COURSES
What is a 'UC A-G approved course'?

UC A-G courses are high school subjects officially recognized by the University of California system as college-preparatory coursework. Courses are grouped into categories A through G and approved through review by UC faculty.

Is this useful even if my student isn't applying to a UC school?

Yes. UC A-G approval is a standard that certifies the level of the curriculum, not something limited to UC applicants. It benefits students applying to private colleges, out-of-state schools, or simply preparing for the SAT/AP exams.

ENROLLMENT
Can a student currently enrolled at another high school register for GLS courses?

Yes. GLS courses are designed for students in grades 10-12 and are designated Honors-level, listed on the UC A-G course list. Please contact your school's administration office to confirm how the credit will appear on your transcript.

Can a student whose school doesn't offer AP courses still take AP classes through GLS?

Yes. Students at schools with no AP offerings or limited seats can take AP single-subject or prep courses through GLS, including STEM APs like Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, and CS, as well as humanities APs like APUSH, AP Lang, AP Psych, and AP Econ, all aligned with College Board standards.

ENROLLMENT ELIGIBILITY
What are the eligibility requirements?

An unweighted GPA of 3.3+ or weighted GPA of 3.5+, with no grade of C or below in the desired subject area. Qualified students may take up to 6 courses per semester; first-time or unqualified students may take up to 4.

LANGUAGE & COMMUNICATION
Are classes taught in English or Korean?

All classes are taught entirely in English. This is a deliberate choice, since the SAT, AP exams, and U.S. college coursework all assume academic English proficiency.
Materials for parents are provided in both Korean and English.

Can we communicate with the school in Korean?

Yes. Key program materials are available in both Korean and English, and parents who prefer to communicate in Korean are welcome to reach out in Korean at any time.

OUTCOMES & RESULTS
Do you guarantee results?

We don't guarantee admission outcomes or specific score increases — academic growth comes from consistent effort and active participation. What we do guarantee is that our curriculum is Honors-level, formally reviewed and approved by the UC system, and taught by qualified instructors in their field.
